This Monday post has turned into a Monday night post, as I have a great deal to say and yet very little capacity for saying it. I had intended for today’s post to be my thoughts on the election – but I hadn’t expected to be having these particular thoughts.
Whatever happens under a Trump Administration, we will have to look after and protect each other, our families, and our communities. If you are wearing a safety pin to express your willingness to be a safe person, then BE A SAFE PERSON. Read books and blog posts and articles by people of color, people with disabilties, and people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. Attend marches or sign a petition or write a letter. If you see bullying, physically stand next to or sit with the person who is being bullied. Remember that midterm elections are coming.
One reason I waited until this evening to post this is that I wanted to include a link to this post from Smart Bitches, Trashy Books. This post, which was written by the Smart Bitches team including myself (CarrieS) includes links to a huge variety of places and causes that are looking for donations and/or volunteers. The comments section has a lot of good suggestions as well.
