This made the rounds a couple years ago, so maybe you have seen it before. But I thought to myself, “Self, I bet there’s a whole bunch of people who haven’t seen this, and this must be rectified”. So here you go. Do not eat or drink near your keyboard while you watch it unless you want to spit coffee all over your computer. You’ve been warned!
I regret that I can’t embed the video, so you’ll have to click on the link. You won’t regret it.
Literal “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, by CollegeHumor
As a genuine, non-ironic fan of Bonnie Tyler, the first time I saw this video I snorted milk out my nose. I think it was about the time of the “Fonzie’s been cloned” line.
The whole “Literal Music Videos” series is amazing, but ’80’s music videos in general are precious works of art that need to be preserved for future generations.
I was giggling right up until she said, “Get out of my way, I gotta pee!” and from there until the end I laughed so hard I gave myself an asthma attack. Also love the plaintive way she says, “And they shouldn’t fence at night…cause they’re gonna hurt the ninjas”.
I just wish I was a fly on the wall for the conversation where some producer said, “You know what this masterpiece is missing? Ninjas!”
And then some poor cinematographer looked over at the prop guy and said, “All right Frank, break out the floating cloth and the smoke machines to tie this puppy together. We’re going to need continuity.”
…
I have maybe thought about the filming of this video more than I should have.
LOL!
Thanks for the video–I saw it years ago and then lost track of it. I do believe I laughed just as hard this time around. A classic!
